Best time to tour in Nepal
Nepal is a year-round destination for tours. March to May and September to November see huge numbers of tourists because they are the perfect times for trekking, climbing, and other adventure sports in the Himalayas. If you want to be surrounded by fellow travelers and experience the bustle of peak season, visit Nepal between March and May and September and November.June to August and December to February are the offseason. Only a handful of tourists travel to Nepal during these months for travel activities because of added weather nuisances. However, it is also the least crowded month. You will have the historical sites and hiking trails all to yourself. So, if you are looking to escape the crowd, tour between June to August and December to February.
Nepali currency
In Nepal, we use the Nepali rupee. At the moment (31/08/2025), 1 USD is equivalent to 138.80 NPR. Make sure to check the currency value again when you visit Nepal. You can exchange your money upon arriving in Kathmandu. There are banks and money exchange centers all over Kathmandu and in Thamel. Likewise, you can also withdraw money from an ATM using your international cards.Note that your bank may charge you a certain percentage as an international service withdrawal. For this, kindly talk to your bank.
Language
Nepali is the national language and the primary medium of communication between the locals. However, Nepal is also very diverse, with hundreds of ethnic groups and languages.Likewise, in certain places, you will also find people fluent in foreign languages such as Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, French, Italian, Hindi, etc.You can talk with most of the locals, especially in the city areas, in English. All guides and locals involved in the travel industry speak English and other foreign languages, so there will not be a language barrier. For a better experience, we recommend tourists learn some basic Nepali phrases like hello, how are you, thank you, excuse me, etc, for an immersive experience. You will also win the hearts of the locals, and it will be a great conversation breaker,
