Tripadvisor, the world's largest travel guide platform, has recognized Nepal’s vibrant capital, Kathmandu, as the second-best solo travel destination worldwide in its first-ever solo travel category.

With Seoul, South Korea, taking the top spot, Kathmandu shines among other global cities, thanks to its unique blend of cultural heritage and welcoming atmosphere for solo travelers. The city boasts seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites and a rich tapestry of traditions that continue to captivate adventurers.

In 2024, Nepal welcomed over 1.14 million tourists, with Kathmandu being a key attraction. This new ranking is expected to draw even more solo explorers to the city.Other top solo travel destinations include Cusco (Peru), Bangkok (Thailand), Osaka (Japan), and Dubai (UAE), among others.

With solo travel growing in popularity (9% of the global population), Kathmandu is poised to strengthen its reputation as a must-visit destination.
