Mountain Viewing

If you have a day or a few weeks to spare, Nepal offers some of the best mountain viewing experiences in the world. Consider visiting Nagarkot or Dhulikhel for panoramic views of the Himalayas. Whether you opt for a mountain flight or a challenging trek to Everest or Annapurnas, you will be treated to stunning views of snow-capped peaks from the moment you arrive. Nepal's northern border with Tibet is formed by the Himalayas, and Kathmandu is only about 65 km away from this border, allowing for fantastic views of the Himalayan range within a short driving distance from your hotel in Kathmandu. From Kathmandu, a short drive to Nagarkot will take you to the rim of the Kathmandu Valley, with a variety of hotels to choose from. You can stay overnight to witness the colorful sunrise and sunset, and explore the nearby hills for better views. This visit can be combined with a short tour of Bhaktapur, a city that resembles a medieval town with its brick houses, narrow brick roads, and ancient temples. Afterward, drive to Hattiban, further to the south, to enjoy amazing views as the horizon extends to the Annapurna massif to the west and the Jugal range to the east. A drive to Dhulikhel, approximately an hour east of Kathmandu, will greet you with panoramic views that include the Langtang range. Spending a night here will allow you to witness superb sunrise and sunset views.

Visit Pokhara for further adventure and head up to Sarangkot for spectacular views of the Annapurna range, or take a jeep dive so you can overnight at Dhampus, and witness the beautiful sunrise and sunset over one of the best mountain vistas in Nepal.
