Trip Itinerary
Day 1 : KATHMANDU - LHASA (3,650 m)
Transfer to airport. Fly (1 hr) to LHASA.. Transfer to LHASA (1 hr) through the new tunnel and check-in to Hotel. Full rest for acclimatisation.
Day 2 : EXPLORER LHASA
AM: Visit POTALA PALACE. PM: Visit JOKHANG TEMPLE & BARKHOR BAZAAR.Ovenight at Hotel.
Day 3 : EXPLORER LHASA
AM Visit DREPUNG MONASTERY. PM: Visit SERA MONASTERY.Overnight at Hotel.
Day 4 : LHASA - GYANTSE (3,950 m) : 261 KM
Scenic drive to GYANTSE via YAMADROKE LAKE (Turquoise Lake) over crossing two high passesKARO LA (5,010 m) & KAMBALA (4,794 m).Overnight at Hotel.
Day 5 : GYANTSE – XIGATSE (3,900 m): 90 KM
AM: Visit to the KUMBUM STUPA & PHALKOR MONASTERY. PM: Drive to XIGATSE and visit the PANCHEN LAMA’S TASHILHUMPU MONASTERY.Overnight at Hotel.
Day 6 : XIGATSE – NEW TINGRI (XEGAR) (4150 m): 244 KM
Picturesque drive to NEW TINGRI by over crossing the high pass GYTSO LA (5220 m) through the typical Tibetan landscape encountering the Tibetan nomads with herds of yaks and sheep. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 7 : NEW TINGRI – RONBUK (4900 m): 125 KM
Scenic drive to RONBUK via PANG LA from where a panoramic view of MT EVEREST & MT CHO OYU can be enjoyed (weather permitting). The drive off the Friendship Highway is in fact a different experience of the typical Tibetan landscape – Guest house in RONBUK
Day 8 : RONBUK – EVEREST BC – RONBUK:
8 X 8 KMRent a horse cart or take a shuttle bus or trek to EVEREST BC and explore BC and back to RONBUK. To be able to reach the height of 5,000 m just at the base of MT EVEREST is an unforgettable moment in your life – Ronbuk Guest House.
Day 9 : RONBUK – ZHANGMU (2300 m): 265 KM
Scenic drive via OLD TINGRI (where some time can be spent for tea break and strolling around the Old TINGRI township) and LALUNG LA (Pass of 5,050 M) with an opportunity to see MT SHISHAPAGMA (8,012 m) & MT CHO OYU (8,201 m) (weather permitting) and continue downhill drive to ZHANGMU (border town) through the amazing landscape which reveals the secrets of the wonderful formation of the Tibetan plateau around 60 million years ago.Overnight at Hotel.
Day 10 : ZHANGMU – KATHMANDU (1300M): 123 KM
After necessary border formalities at ZHANGMU (Chinese immigration) and Kodari (Nepali immigration), scenic drive to KATHMANDU through the scenic Nepalese countryside – Transfer to your hotel.
