Annapurna Ghorepani Poon Hill Overview

The Annapurna Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking is one of Nepal’s most popular and rewarding short trekking journeys, offering an excellent combination of Himalayan scenery, cultural exploration, and natural beauty. Organized by Odea Services, this carefully designed 9-day adventure takes you through the beautiful landscapes of the Annapurna region while allowing you to experience the rich heritage of Kathmandu, the peaceful lakeside city of Pokhara, and the traditional Gurung villages along the trekking trail.

This trek is especially famous for the spectacular sunrise view from Poon Hill (3,210 meters), where trekkers can witness breathtaking panoramic views of some of the world’s highest mountains, including Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Hiunchuli, Nilgiri, and Lamjung Himal. The journey passes through colorful rhododendron forests, terraced farmland, charming villages, rivers, waterfalls, and peaceful mountain settlements.

Before starting the trek, travelers enjoy cultural sightseeing in Kathmandu, exploring UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Swoyambhunath Stupa, Boudhanath Stupa, and Bhaktapur Durbar Square. The trip also includes a relaxing visit to Pokhara, known as the “City of Lakes,” where visitors can enjoy boating at Phewa Lake and admire stunning mountain reflections.

Best Season for Annapurna Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking

The Annapurna Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek can be completed throughout the year; however, the best seasons are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During these months, the weather remains stable, the skies are clear, and trekkers can enjoy outstanding views of the Himalayan peaks. The trails are also decorated with blooming rhododendron flowers during spring, creating a colorful and unforgettable trekking environment.

Autumn is considered the peak trekking season in Nepal because of excellent visibility, pleasant temperatures, and dry walking conditions. The post-monsoon atmosphere provides crystal-clear mountain views, making it the perfect time for photography and enjoying the spectacular landscapes of the Annapurna region.

Winter (December to February) is also possible for this trek, especially for travelers who prefer quieter trails. The weather is colder, particularly during mornings and nights, but the mountain views are often very clear. The summer/monsoon season (June to August) brings rainfall, slippery trails, and cloudy weather, but the region becomes lush and green.
